My loved one was detained. What do I do?

You can search using their A number:

• A-Number (Alien number) — A nine-digit number used to identify a person. It can be found on their immigration paperwork.

Or by using their biographical information:

• Country of birth.

• Full name (make sure the name is entered exactly as it appears on the person’s immigration paperwork).

• Date of birth.

If you are unable to find your loved one, try using different variations of their name.

If your loved one was recently detained, their information may take up to a week or more to appear in the system.

Save this information once you locate them: detention facility, A-Number, facility phone number, facility address, and any booking/case information.

You can contact nearby detention facilities if the person does not appear in the ICE Locator system.
